May 3, 2013 | John Hazen White, Sr. Leadership in the Arts Awards
In May, our annual Leadership in the Arts Awards were held Rhodes-on-the-Pawtuxet. The event, hosted by Philhamronic Orchestra conductor Larry Rachleff & John Hazen White, Jr, paid tribute to The Employees of TACO, Barbara J. Dreyer and the Founders of the Children's Education Concerts.  The recipients were selected for furthering the mission of music at the Rhode Island Philharmonic and in our community. The award is named in honor of John Hazen White, Sr. whose philanthropy to the Rhode Island arts community, most particularly the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra & Music School, is legendary. Last March there was a Wine + Cheese Reception in celebration of the Philharmonic Orchestra & Music School’s partnership with Gallery Z as their featured non-profit organization for the month of March. There was a performance by a chamber group from the Music School (ages 8-11 plus parents, faculty) and live painting to the music by world-renowned artist Kevork Mourad!

February 13, 2013 | Alon Goldstein Recital at the Vets
Friends and fans of the Philharmonic were treated to an intimate performance by Alon Goldstein on our new Steinway Model D Concert Grand Piano. Members of our Key Players Society were even allowed to sit on the stage! The recital was held to dedicate the new piano, which was a gift from the Champlin Foundations.  Mr. Goldstein, along with members of our artistic staff, personally selected this piano at the Steinway & Sons factory in New York. See pictures from the recital HERE and watch a video about their search for the piano HERE.

December 1, 2012 | The Black & White Bash
